Fabulous Philly |
Known for much more than just its famous cheesesteaks, Philadelphia is a place where history, science and art come to life. Take a horse-drawn carriage ride through cobblestoned streets up to Independence Hall. View the Liberty Bell up close, and The Betsy Ross House, home of America’s most famous flag maker. For art enthusiasts, visit the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the third largest museum in the country, with its famous front steps, or relax in the landscaped sculpture garden of the Rodin Museum. For the scientists in your family, the Academy of Natural Sciences with its live animals as well as the engaging, hands-on Franklin Institute with its walk-through heart, provide endless hours of wonder. When you are ready for a break be sure to have lunch at the Reading Terminal Market, America’s oldest farmers’ market.

Chicago - Gem of the Midwest |
Tourists typically flock to Michigan Avenue for shopping in this mid-west mecca – but for the smaller set there is also plenty of family friendly fun. Especially refreshing on a hot summer day is the River and Lake Architecture Tour which will provide a great introduction to the windy city. Families can easily spend a full day visiting The Field Museum (boasting Sue the T-Rex, mummies and much more) and the Shedd Aquarium. On the other side of town, stroll through Lincoln Park and the Lincoln Park Zoo – one of the only free zoos remaining in the country. Downtown you can opt to take in the sights from the top of the John Hancock Tower or the Sears Tower. And, be sure to pay a visit to Millennium Park which offers year round family programs such as ice skating in the winter and concerts throughout the summer.

San Francisco, City On The Bay |
With vistas unmatched anywhere in the world, this hilly city has much to discover. Besides the well-known cable cars, Lombard Street and a requisite tour of Alcatraz there are also lesser known places for families to explore. At the Exploratorium, kids of all ages are encouraged to climb on and touch the exhibits. Next, set in Golden Gate Park, the recently refurbished California Academy of Sciences is the only place on earth with an aquarium, a planetarium, a natural history museum and a 4-story rainforest -- all under one roof. After a day of exploring you may enjoy an authentic afternoon tea in the serene Japanese Tea Garden across the way. Also in this park are the 360 degree views from the top of the De Young Museum. Known mostly by locals, the amazing, hands-on Discovery Museum in nearby Sausalito keeps children under 8 engaged, in a perfect setting at the foot of the Golden Gate Bridge. Be sure to enjoy lunch in the impressive Ferry Building with its spectacular food market.
